ABC is reporting that the fire was intentionally set, and a young bloke will be appearing in court today facing charges for intentionally starting the fire. Allegedly, he lit the fire with a cigarette lighter and hid in the trees watching it burn.Some damage was done to Paspaley's historical pearl sheds, pearl racks were burnt out creating a massive black cloud over Kimberley. It could've of been much worse if not for the efforts of the local fire department.

How some people feel about Paspaley is irrelevant. They have done more for the South Sea pearl industry than any other South Sea pearl industry. There is also a lot of history in Broome that should be preserved.

One day when I have the time, I'll get myself some glass rods and a bunsen burner to make a Walter Moers bluebear lampwork bead to use as an enhancer on a near perfect strand of Indonesian transgrafts (12+mm and I really own it, two strands of them actually although one is slightly smaller). That'll be fabulous.
That will be MY bluebear lampwork bead. Actually, as an enhancer I can wear it like that to Paspaley events or leave it be for other occasions. Anyhow, I actually keep most of my lampwork beads separately as works of art although some of them do have enhancer bails in case I want to irritate somebody like Nick Paspalis
