More promising news from last week’s Shima Shokai South Sea pearl auction in Kobe; the 42nd annual auction trumped the market-depressed numbers of 2009 with ¥701.64 million versus a dismal ¥236.1 million.Of 429 lots on offer, 211 sold for an average price per momme of ¥6,375.46. According to JNA, 78 companies from 11 countries and regions participated, of which 63 made purchases.
This sign of upswing bodes well leading up to the next two South Sea pearl auctions; Concorde in early February and Paspaley in early March. As Bafoon once proclaimed, “the times they are a-changing.” But this time, things seem to be moving in a better direction.

Glad to hear Pearl's price are improving. Wish people in pearl business can be united for the better future of pearls. Best wishest, Edward Kong
more volume sure, but can any aussie farmer survive at these prices, even paspaley? it must cost more than this to produce
