They must be cutting back on their once-upon-a-time fine reportage, perhaps having fired most everyone like JCK magazine has done. The Dubai confab folks did nothing to establish themselves as a new or exciting entity in the pearl business. Suggest everyone stop beating their gums about this monumental failure, and cease and desist trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Dubai will never become an important pearl destination. Fogettaboutit. It's a done deal. Water under the bridge. The color of black pearls and Cortez Pearls is due -partially- to the natural presence of these proteins in the nacre of Pinctada margaritifera and Pteria sterna.<br />Why don't the Japanese admit that their industry is dead??? They polluted their waters, they genetically polluted their oysters and they just over-produced their pearls (at the expense of quality).<br />My advice?
